The solar systems installed by kalao are hybrid systems. This means they integrate seamlessly with other energy sources used by our clients (the electrical grid and/or generators). Our solutions mix in real-time between each of these sources in real-time and prioritize solar energy when it is available. No adjustments are necessary for equipment and machines.

  • Each column of the graph represents the annual savings achieved by a customer thanks to solar energy. The yellow portion of the columns represents the costs associated with kalao. The blue portion represents the net savings: the savings each year far exceed the kalao costs. In this example, the customer chose to pay off the system over 15 years. Starting from the 16th year, the monthly payments are significantly reduced as only the maintenance of the solar system remains to be paid. The graph stops at year 20, but the solar system will continue to generate electricity for many years beyond that.

Thanks to our Gold and Bank+ plans, the savings generated from solar energy are more than enough to cover the kalao fees, which include system payment, warranties, maintenance, and spare parts.

After the full reimbursement of the system, only maintenance fees will remain to be paid each year.

  • Solar panels can still produce energy on cloudy days, but at a reduced rate. kalao's sizing methodology takes into account the variability of sunshine throughout the year. In some cases, a battery bank can be integrated into your solar system to store excess energy on sunny days for use during less sunny periods.

  • While savings vary, businesses can typically offset their financing costs through the reduction in their monthly energy bills. We offer a free consultation to provide a more tailored estimate.

  • Offers with integrated financing are reserved for projects of 50 kW or more. Generally, these systems are suited for businesses with monthly energy bills of 1 million FCFA or more. Our financial partners must then ensure the robustness of our clients by analyzing their balance sheets, the structure of the company, and the history of their energy bills before approving the signing of a contract.

  • All solar systems above 10 kW must be submitted to the Benin Electricity Regulatory Authority for approval.
